Series Title: “Fresh Start: Five Healthy Habits for a New Year”

Restful Routines: Reset, Recharge, and Recover (Part Five)

Rest is a spiritual and physical necessity. God Himself rested after creation,

reminding us that restoration fuels purpose.

Genesis 2:2-3

On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so

he rested from all his work. And God blessed the seventh day and declared

it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation.

Key Number One: Prioritize Sleep

Quality sleep restores the body, mind, and spirit. Lack of rest impairs decision-

making and focus. It’s suggested that we aim for seven to eight hours of sleep

nightly, create a consistent bedtime and avoid late-night work and computer

screens.

Psalm 4:8

In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, will keep

me safe.

Psalm 127:2

In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food; yet God gives

sleep to those He loves.

Key Number Two: Include Mental Rest

Mental downtime helps prevent burnout and improves clarity and creativity. Take

breaks from screens, meditate, journal, or enjoy quiet reflection.

Philippians 4:6-7

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about

everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done.

Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can

understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in

Christ Jesus.

So, don’t forget to prioritize rest, build calming routines, and let God’s peace

restore you daily for His purposes. We hope this teaching series has been a blessing

to all.
