OUR IDENTITY IN CHRIST (PART ONE)

In a world obsessed with image, success, and performance, one of the most important questions we can ask ourselves is: “Who am I?” Many try to answer this through accomplishments, relationships, or roles. But those things can change in an instant. When they do, we’re often left feeling lost.

That’s why the most secure identity we can ever embrace is the one God has already given us through Jesus Christ. If you are a follower of Christ, you don’t need to strive to become someone—you already are someone: fully known, fully loved, and made completely new in Him.

1. Our Identity Is Found in Christ, Not in Culture

The world may try to define us by our appearance, possessions, achievements, or past mistakes—but none of these truly determine who we are. God does.As Acts 17:28 says, “For in Him we live and move and have our being.”When we give our lives to Jesus, our identity is no longer shaped by our past or pain. We receive a new name and a new nature.

2. You Are a New Creation

According to 2 Corinthians 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”This means your past no longer has power over your future. Guilt and shame don’t get the final word. You’ve been redeemed, restored, and renewed.

3. You Are Chosen, Adopted, and Loved

One of the most beautiful truths about our identity is that we’ve been chosen—not because of what we’ve done, but because of God’s great love.Ephesians 1:5 tells us, “He predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will.”You were chosen before the foundation of the world. You’ve been adopted into God’s family—and He calls you His own.

4. You Are Righteous and Free

Because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, you are not only forgiven—you have been made righteous.2 Corinthians 5:21 says, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.”You no longer have to earn your worth. You are no longer condemned. You’ve been set free from the grip of sin. Your struggles don’t define you—His sacrifice does.

This is just the beginning. We’ll continue exploring this powerful truth in Part Two.
