GOD’S REQUEST TO REMEMBER

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

Psalm 103:2 (KJV)

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to remember what hurt you, yet how difficult it can be to remember what God brought you through? We remember the pain, the pressure, and the disappointment. But God says, “Do not forget My benefits.”

One of the greatest dangers to faith is not always failure. Sometimes, it is forgetfulness.

Throughout Scripture, God continually calls His people to remember. He does not simply bless His people. He instructs His people to remember His faithfulness, His provision, His protection, and His promises. If we are going to walk in strength, stability, and spiritual maturity, we must understand this truth: God has a request, and that request is remembrance.

First: Remember His Provision

God says, “Do not forget what I have provided for you.”

Deuteronomy 8:18 says, “But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth.”

One of the dangers of success is that it can create spiritual amnesia. Over time, people begin to think, “I achieved this on my own,” or “I made this happen through my own ability.”

But God reminds us that every opportunity, every open door, every resource, and every blessing ultimately comes from Him.

Take time to reflect on the ways God has provided for you. Think about the seasons when He made a way where there seemed to be no way. Acknowledge Him not only in difficult moments, but also in moments of success and progress. Gratitude keeps the heart grounded and reminds us that we are sustained by God’s goodness.

But remembering God’s provision is only the beginning. We must also remember His protection.

Second: Remember His Protection

God has not only blessed you. He has also preserved you.

There were dangers you never saw, battles you never knew existed, and moments when God protected you in ways you did not even recognize. There were situations that could have overwhelmed you, but His hand covered you.

You are here today because God kept you yesterday.

Take time to reflect on what God has brought you through. Praise Him for dangers seen and unseen. Let remembrance strengthen your confidence in Him. When you remember how faithful God has been in the past, it becomes easier to trust Him with the future.

We remember His provision and His protection, but there is something else God wants us to remember.

Third: Remember His Promises

God does not only work in your past. He also speaks into your future.

1 Kings 8:56 says, “There hath not failed one word of all his good promise.”

When life becomes difficult, the enemy often tries to make you forget what God has spoken. Because if you forget the promise, you can lose your perspective. But the truth remains: what God promises, He is faithful to perform.

Even when circumstances change, God’s Word remains constant. His promises are not dependent on how things look in the moment. They are established by His character and His faithfulness.

God’s request is simple, but it is deeply important. Remember what He has done. Remember how He has kept you. Remember what He has spoken over your life.

Because when you remember, your faith becomes stronger. When you remember, your perspective becomes clearer. When you remember, your trust in God is renewed.

So make this decision today:

I will not forget His provision.

I will not forget His protection.

I will not forget His promises.

Because when you remember God’s faithfulness, you position yourself to trust Him for what comes next. And this is the confidence we hold onto: if God did it before, He can do it again.
