MY DECLARATION OF DEPENDENCE

Because True Freedom Begins with Surrender
On July 4, 1776, the United States declared its independence from British rule, marking the birth of a new nation. That declaration sparked freedom in the natural, but as believers, we live under a higher calling: not independence from God, but dependence on Him.
Today, I make my own declaration, a Declaration of Dependence on the One who holds my life in His hands.
1. Without Him, I Am Nothing
John 15:5 – "I am the vine, you are the branches... apart from Me, you can do nothing."
Jesus didn’t say we can do some things without Him; He said we can do nothing without Him. Dependence on Christ isn’t weakness; it’s wisdom. Every prayer we pray, every step we take, every act of obedience is a declaration that we need Him, fully and completely.
2. Through Him, I Can Do All Things
Philippians 4:13 – "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."
The opposite is also true; without His strength, we fall. Human effort fails where divine power prevails. Scripture reminds us not to trust in “the arm of flesh” (2 Chronicles 32:8, Jeremiah 17:5–6). The breath in our lungs is a gift; how much more should our trust be in the Giver?
3. Victory Comes Through Surrender
2 Chronicles 20:15 – "The battle is not yours, but God’s."
When Jehoshaphat faced an impossible battle, God didn’t ask him to fight; He asked him to believe. Our greatest strength lies not in resisting God, but in yielding to Him. Dependence is not passive. It’s the most powerful position we can take, kneeling in prayer, confident that God fights for us.
Final Thought
This July, while many celebrate national freedom, I celebrate spiritual dependence. Not as a burden, but as a blessing. Because when I surrender to God, I find strength, victory, and peace beyond understanding.
I don’t need to be self-sufficient. I need to be God-dependent.
Happy Independence Day and Happy Dependence on Christ.
