Change is God-Ordained (Part One)
The fall season beautifully mirrors how God works in our lives. As the days grow shorter, the air turns cooler, and leaves transform into radiant shades of red, orange, and gold, creation itself whispers a timeless truth: change is part of God’s divine design.
Many of us resist change because it brings uncertainty, discomfort, or even loss. Yet, just as autumn prepares the trees for new growth, God uses seasons of change to prune, strengthen, and prepare us for what’s next. Every shift, though sometimes unsettling, carries purpose.
Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us:
“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.”
Let’s draw some lessons from the fall season to help us trust God through times of transition.
1. Change is God-Ordained
Jeremiah 29:11 declares:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”
The leaves don’t decide when to turn; the Creator set their rhythm and timing. In the same way, the seasons of our lives unfold under God’s sovereign control. What surprises us never surprises Him.
Here’s what we can hold on to:
God controls the timing of our change.
Just as temperature and light signal leaves to shift, God knows the precise moment when your next chapter must begin.
God’s plans are always purposeful.
His timing may not align with ours, but His changes are never random. Every transition is a step toward growth, destiny, and divine fulfilment.
God’s sovereignty brings peace.
Even when life feels chaotic or uncertain, we can rest in knowing He has already written the story, from beginning to end.
Take a moment and reflect:
👉 Can you look back on a season of change and now see how God’s timing was better than your own?
When we begin to view change through the lens of trust, peace replaces panic, and gratitude replaces resistance.
So, instead of asking “Why this change?” ask “Father, what purpose are You fulfilling in this season?”
Stay tuned for Part Two, as we continue exploring how to walk with God through life’s changing seasons.
